An early start: Ciattarelli kicks off campaign for governor
RARITAN — Republican Jack Ciattarelli is ready to take a second swing at becoming New Jersey’s next governor.
The former state legislator took his first crack at the governor’s office three years ago. And while he received praise for mounting a smart, issues-based campaign, he ultimately finished second behind Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno in the GOP primary race.
Guadagno ended up losing to Democrat Phil Murphy in the general election.
Three years later, Ciattarelli believes he’s not only the best Republican to unseat Murphy but also the best choice to lead the state and get a grip on the issue that never goes away: New Jersey’s notoriously high property taxes.
