MEET JIM

Sheriff. Patriot. Problem Solver.

Jim Gannon has spent his life protecting and serving the people of New Jersey.

Following in the footsteps of his father—a decorated NYPD detective—Jim began walking a beat as a patrolman in his hometown of Boonton more than four decades ago. What started as a childhood dream of helping others became a lifetime of service in law enforcement and public safety.

Jim’s resume reads like a blueprint for public leadership:
-
Patrolman in Boonton and Boonton Township
-
Deputy Chief of Investigations in the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office
-
Founder of the County’s Cold Case Unit
-
Graduate of the FBI National Academy
-
Member of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force
-
Three-term Morris County Sheriff
But of all the positions and titles Jim has held, his proudest came without a badge.
He and his late wife, Lisa, raised their daughter Kate right here in Morris County. And today, Jim is a proud grandfather.
As Sheriff, Jim launched the HOPE ONE initiative, which has helped hundreds of New Jerseyans struggling with addiction find treatment and get their lives back on track. He also brought together law enforcement, schools, and mental health professionals to create the Responsible School Violence Prevention (RSVP) program, setting a new standard for school safety.
Jim Gannon is a results-driven, commonsense leader who works across the aisle to get things done. He’s earned the trust of Republicans, Independents, and Democrats alike—and he never stops fighting for the people he serves.
Now, he’s ready to serve as Lieutenant Governor, alongside Jack Ciattarelli, to help fix the state he loves.
With bold leadership, a respect for law and order, and a commitment to real results, Jim Gannon is ready to help lead New Jersey toward a safer, more affordable, and more hopeful future.
